A new Set Coordinate system feature will help multiple users in a single organization work on the same drawing, while the Z/Join function will allow users to share alignments of parallel lines and Z-aligned profiles. Users can use the new Alignment option to view all alignments along an object’s outline or path and automatically fill them with the appropriate object. The Features pane in the Options dialog box will now show all alignments with links to the source file, supporting organizations and the user who created the alignment. In addition, the features pane will now show a user-selected representation of the object, making the alignment view easier to understand and review.
Drawings that you produce in AutoCAD Civil 3D are now as flexible as they are accurate and scalable, whether you are making a small drawing for a marketing presentation or drafting an entire construction plan for a large project. The PowerPoint and OpenOffice.org presentations that you export from Civil 3D can be used as they are, or you can add your own graphics, animation and sound. To assist you with this task, a new PowerPoint Viewer tool lets you import PDF, EPS, and other PostScript files, or view a presentation created in Microsoft PowerPoint or OpenOffice.org. The OpenOffice.org Impress functionality also includes the ability to export slides to AutoCAD.
You can export your drawings to several different formats, including Photoshop, PDF, MicroStation and PDF, and can save your data in text or binary formats. Using the Export To option, you can save your drawing as a Windows or Mac.DWG file, a Windows or Mac.DWF file, or an AutoCAD Civil 3D.R10 file. You can even export your drawing as a file that can be viewed in Microsoft PowerPoint or OpenOffice.org. AutoCAD Civil 3D also includes a new image compression and decompression feature that improves file size and makes it faster to load and save data. For example, it saves disk space by compressing your drawings in the background while you work, and it accelerates data exchange with other applications.
New collaboration tools allow you to review and comment on drawings quickly and easily, all while maintaining compatibility with the file formats used by other applications. You can now comment on your drawings using the Comments feature, view and comment on other people’s drawings using the Chat window, and share CAD files in a variety of formats. The new Linked Files feature makes it easy to copy and paste
